Hydrogen Power

The U.S. Army recently awarded WSU's Jake Leachman $1.8M to test UAV's powered by liquid hydrogen fuel. Dr. Leachman, Associate Professor of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, will be collaborating with Protium Innovations, a company formed in 2014 by former WSU graduate students. Protium has been developing a polymer fuel tank which is more insulating than metal, allowing UAVs to carry more fuel and increase their range.

Dr. Leachman has been awarded multiple JCATI awards for his work on liquid hydrogen. For more information on Dr. Leachman and his research, please visit the HYPER Lab website
