2026 Symposium Logistics

Wednesday April 8 at Mizuna, (214 N. Howard) 5:30-7:30 PM. We will walk from the DoubleTree (rain or shine!) so meet in the lobby by 5:15. We have a private dining room reserved for us. Dress is casual. 

• JCATI pays for your symposium travel to Seattle and a hotel room at the DoubleTree City Center Spokane.
• The hotel will already have your name when you check in. They will ask for your credit card for any incidentals.  JCATI covers hotel room/tax but not hotel parking, which can be reimbursed.
• Travel Reimbursement: receipts due to Beth by Friday, April 24
  • Save all receipts and talk with me during the symposium.
  • Rideshare (Uber/Lyft) reimbursement: limited to the service provider’s standard class.  Priority pickup, Uber Comfort, wait time fees and using credits are not reimbursable. For reimbursement, I need the email receipt from Uber/Lyft showing the form of payment and class of service. If you are traveling via taxi please obtain a receipt.
  • Hotel parking: I need the hotel folio listing the parking charges. 
     

Plan on a ~35 minute talk to allow 5-10 min for questions. Tell us a bit about your current projects, what you and your company are focused on. Next, tell us the technology needs of your sector in the next 3-5 years. Where are the challenges and opportunities?

JCATI funds near term projects so you are addressing people who can possibly help you. The audience is mainly engineers so you can be technical. Other attendees are from industry, economic development offices and aerospace industry groups.  The goal is to give people insight into your sector’s needs which hopefully will result in new connections. Let me know if you have any questions about talk content.

You are responsible for booking your own symposium travel and hotel using your JCATI project funds. A room block at the DoubleTree City Center Spokane is available until Wednesday, March 4. After that time you are responsible for finding your own lodging.

JCATI pays for student travel (fly/drive) and hotel rooms. I’ll work directly with your students regarding their travel plans. Room incidentals are covered by the student or your grant. 

Your group must present both a project poster and pitch.

• Poster: use the poster template provided under Logistics. Posters are 36" x 24" . You print and bring the poster,  I’ll provide poster boards, easels and clips.
• Pitch: One student from your group has 2 minutes to describe the project to the audience (they will be timed!). These pitches help attendees understand the breadth of JCATI projects and drive poster traffic. Keep your pitch high level-any details are for the poster session.
• Pitch slide is due by Wednesday, April 1. Use the pitch slide template provided under Logistics. No animation or embedded graphics/videos allowed.
• Your student will be introduced with the pitch slide shown behind them. They will have 2 minutes onstage to give their JCATI project pitch.

  • Mileage: if you drove to the symposium, I will work with you on an expense report
  •  Because reimbursements may take a while to process, it makes sense to provide a permanent address (parents, etc.) so you receive payment. 
     

• Use the poster template on the Logistics page. Poster size is 36”x24”. Note you are printing your own poster!
• Easels, poster boards and clips are provided for you so find your lab’s name on the easels.
• Posters should be up by 8:30 AM
