2020 JCATI Request for Proposals

2020 JCATI Request for Proposals (PDF)

JCATI provides short term funding via academic collaboration for Washington State aerospace companies with a technology roadblock. Past examples include software and other analytics, materials testing and development, manufacturing methods, computer simulations, electronics modules, propulsion systems and prototype testing.

The academic partner receives JCATI funding to work on the technology problem while the industry partner provides support necessary for project completion and transition into the company. Projects cover Technology Readiness Levels 4-7 (component and/or field validation, full system prototype testing). Partners must outline a clear transition plan for imminent incorporation. Aerospace companies of all sizes can take advantage of this opportunity to advance their business in Washington State.

Proposals must be aerospace related with the impact occurring in Washington State. Aerospace is broadly interpreted and includes but is not limited to: software and machine learning, aerospace materials (metals. composites, 3D printed), aerospace propulsion and power systems (fuel or electric), air transportation modernization, cybersecurity for aerospace systems, manufacturing and production innovation (robotics, additive manufacturing, augmented/virtual reality),controls and automation, airport ground systems, human-machine interfaces, communication systems, space systems and UAVs.

  • Academic partners must be from a Washington State public 4 year university
  • Industry partners must contribute in-kind support
  • JCATI award amounts are $50,000-$100,000
  • The project period is July 1, 2020-June 30, 2021
  • Proposals are due Friday, February 28, 2020 by 5 PM PST

Note that projects will undergo a triage process and only those selected will move on to full review.
