Symposium Speaker Logistics
Wednesday April 9 at Mamma Melina’s, 6-8 PM. This is across the street from the Silver Cloud hotel. For those driving, there is a parking garage. We will meet in the restaurant lobby around 5:45 and then on to dinner in our private dining room.
- JCATI pays for your symposium travel to Seattle and a hotel room at the Silver Cloud University.
- If you fly, please tell me and contact my travel agent Jeanne Kick (jkick@dt.com, 425-275-4214). She charges your ticket directly to my budget. JCATI pays for an economy class ticket only.
- Before contacting Jeanne, have the following ready:
- Airport flying out of. You are going to Seattle (SEA).
- Potential flights that work for you
- Name as it appears on ID shown at airport
- Gender
- Birthdate
- Cell phone #
- If you drive, I’ll work with you on an expense report so there will be a delay before you are reimbursed.
- The hotel will already have your name when you check in. They may ask for your credit card for any incidentals but JCATI covers room/tax.
Plan on a ~35 minute talk to allow 5-10 min for questions. Tell us a bit about your current projects, what you and your company are focused on. Next, tell us the technology needs of your sector in the next 3-5 years. Where are the challenges and opportunities?
JCATI funds near term projects so you are addressing people who can possibly help you. The audience is mainly engineers so you can get technical. Other attendees are from industry, economic development offices and aerospace industry groups. The goal is to give people insight into your sector’s needs which hopefully will result in new connections. Let me know if you have any questions about talk content.
Please send me a headshot and short bio which I’ll post on the event website.

Project PI Logistics
You are responsible for booking your own symposium travel and hotel accommodations using your project budget. A room block at the Silver Cloud University is available until Monday, March 18. After that time you are responsible for finding your own lodging.
JCATI pays for student travel (fly/drive) and hotel rooms. I’ll work directly with your students regarding their travel plans. Any other incidentals are covered by the student or your grant.
Your group must present both a project poster and pitch.
- Poster: use the provided poster template. Posters are 36”x24”. You print and bring the poster, I’ll provide poster boards, easels and clips.
- Pitch: One student from your group has 2 minutes to describe the project to the audience (they will be timed). These pitches help attendees understand the breadth of JCATI projects and drive poster traffic. Keep your pitch high level-any details are for the poster session.
- I need a pitch slide (template attached) by Monday, March 31.
Student Logistics
- JCATI pays for student symposium travel and room at the DoubleTree. Any other costs are covered by your PIs JCATI budget.
- WSU Student Travel:
- You can fly or drive to the symposium. If you fly I’ll connect you with my travel agent to book. My grant directly pays for your ticket so no reimbursement needed. If you drive, you are responsible for filling out and submitting the reimbursement form.
- **Tell me if you want to fly or drive by Wednesday, 1/31
- WWU Student Travel: I’ll work with your PI to figure out travel (driving individually vs. a van for everyone)
- Student Hotel: JCATI pays for your hotel room rate and tax so no reimbursement needed. You are responsible for any other charges. I’ll submit your name on a hotel rooming list so you just show up, give your name and get your key. They may ask for a credit card for any incidentals. Last day to request a room: Monday, 3/18.
- Poster size is 36”x24”. The poster template is on the logistics page. Easels, poster boards and clips are provided. Look for your lab’s name on the easels.
- Posters should be up by 8:30 AM
Pitch slide due to me by Monday, April 8. The pitch slide template is attached. No animation or embedded graphics/videos. One student from the project has two minutes to describe the project to the audience (yes, you will be timed). These pitches help attendees understand the breadth of JCATI projects and drive poster traffic. Keep your pitch high level-any details are for the poster session.
